About Top Filtration Union NJ

The Union NJ Water Treatment Company That Tests First

We are new in Union, and we are building this business on the least exciting proposition in the trade: find out what is actually in the water, install only what fixes it, and be reachable when something goes wrong at midnight.

Why we started this

Anyone who has worked around water treatment in New Jersey has watched the same thing happen. A company offers a free in-home water test. A technician arrives, runs a dramatic countertop demonstration — something changes colour, something fizzes — and a homeowner signs for a five-figure system that has very little to do with what is actually in their water.

It works because water is invisible and most people have no independent numbers to check against. So here is our position, stated plainly on our own website: get an independent lab test before you sign anything, including anything from us. For city water in Union, your utility publishes a free annual water quality report and it is a genuinely good starting point. For a well, use a state-certified lab or a mail-in service such as Tap Score by SimpleLab. Real numbers are what size equipment. Everything else is theatre.

What we actually do

We install, service and size six categories of treatment: activated carbon, reverse osmosis, sediment filtration, water softeners, UV purifiers and iron, sulfur and specialty media. Most homes in Union need one or two of them. Almost nobody needs all six, and we will say so.

We also do the unglamorous half of this trade: cartridge changes, membrane swaps, UV lamp replacements, resin beds and control valve repairs — including on systems another company installed. A softener built on a Fleck or Clack valve is very often a repair rather than a replacement, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a new tank.

Open 24 hours, and we mean it

Water problems are not polite about timing. A filter housing that starts weeping at 11pm, a softener that floods a finished basement, water that suddenly runs brown after the street gets worked on — those calls come in at every hour, and somebody here picks up. Call (973) 380-3906 whenever it happens.

Why we only work in Union

We are a service-area business based in Union, New Jersey, and Union Township is the whole of our map, across both the 07083 and 07088 ZIPs. Plenty of companies list thirty towns and know none of them. We would rather know one properly.

In practice that means we already know the answers other companies have to go and find out: which postwar streets still run original galvanised service lines that shed rust every time a main is shut down, which have been dug up recently for New Jersey’s lead service line replacement programme, and how the municipal permit process here actually works — because we go through it every week, not once a year.

About Us

Fair questions about a new company

Are you insured, and who does the plumbing?
We carry insurance on every job. Cutting into your main water line is regulated in New Jersey under the Uniform Construction Code (N.J.A.C. 5:23) and Union Township requires a licensed plumber and a permit, so we bring a licensed plumber in for that portion of the work and pull the permit. Cartridge changes, under-sink systems and servicing are handled directly by our own technicians.
How long have you been in business?
Top Filtration Union NJ is a new local business, and we would rather say so than invent a history. What we bring is the trade experience behind it and a very simple incentive: in a town this size, the only way a new water treatment company survives is by doing right by the first few hundred customers.
Do you charge for the quote or the water test review?
No. Coming out, looking at your plumbing, reviewing your water quality data and writing you an itemized quote is free. If you are on a well and need a certified lab test, that is a third-party cost and we will point you at a reputable lab rather than marking it up.
Do you service systems you did not install?
Yes, and a lot of our work is exactly that — cartridge changes, membrane swaps, UV lamps, resin replacement and valve repairs on equipment someone else put in. Fleck and Clack valves in particular are almost always worth repairing rather than replacing.
